Giuliani: Health overhaul ‘single most damaging thing’ Obama can do

Enacting healthcare reform with a public option is the “single most damaging thing” President Obama could do as president, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) charged Wednesday.

The 2008 presidential candidate and potential 2010 gubernatorial candidate in New York took aim at the president’s proposals to overhaul healthcare, claiming Obama is “misinformed” about the effect his plans would have.

“It’s the single most damaging thing that Obama can do, if he can get any of this public health plan through,” Giuliani said during an interview on the Fox Business Network. “Or if he moves more people to government, nationalized coverage.”

Giuliani said that while he doesn’t believe Obama has been lying about the effects of his healthcare overhaul, the president is “misinformed” due to inexperience.

“What I would say is that he’s misinformed about the impact of his program, maybe because the president isn’t someone with vast experience in this area,” he said.
