Huffington Post Banned in Beijing
Though the Chinese government has lifted its ban on several political sites in the days leading up to the Olympics, it is still blocking access to the liberal site The Huffington Post.
The Post notes that bans have been lifted on websites for BBC News and Amnesty International. Other political sites, including the right-of-center Drudge Report and liberal sites Raw Story and Truthout, can also be accessed.
Post writer David Wallechinsky suggests that the ban may remain in place because of his story, “How to Protest the Beijing Olympics.”
The games’ opening ceremonies will take place Friday.
