Don’t approve budget including massive deficit spending

Do you feel you are doing the constituents of District Eight, much more the citizens of the United States of America, justice by approving the spending of money we don’t have? The intentions of a budget are to control spending, so now that you have control, do just that. Why is honoring this promise so difficult?

The “Pledge to America” states:

“Our plan stands on the principles of smaller, more accountable government; economic freedom; lower taxes; fiscal responsibility; protecting life, American values, and the Constitution…”

Congressman Boehner, we remember hearing you demand all Congressmen agree to the Pledge to America. What a wonderful idea! It brought a sense of security knowing our government would be back on course protecting our freedoms. However, does your projected budget honor the principles on which we are founded?

The budget on which you are laboring is a leftover – leftover from the ‘buffet’ from which Republicans and Democrats gorged themselves at our expense. Our grandchildren will be strapped with paying this back. This is not our grandchildren’s responsibility.

Mr. Boehner, we stand behind you for bold moves that do more than slightly alter the landscape. You presented yourself as a leader ready and willing to take on this responsibility. You were chosen because of those beliefs, because of your boldness, and ultimately your willingness to challenge the status quo.

We appreciate this first step toward fiscal restraint, but we expected you to take bolder steps.
