Let people keep their coverage

President Obama has repeatedly promised millions of Americans with health insurance that “if you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan” under his health care act known as ObamaCare.

Yet millions of Americans are opening the mail to find their health insurance plan would no longer exist in 2014 because it does not cover all the essential benefits required by the Affordable Care Act.

{mosads}According to CBS News more than two million Americans — including 800,000 in New Jersey — have already been told they can’t renew their policies.  And retirees are also learning that their Medicare Advantage plans will be eliminated next year because of ObamaCare.

Despite assurances from President Obama that Americans who like their health insurance can keep it, the reality is that millions of citizens are losing their current coverage – something the Administration may have known would happen.

In response to the growing outcry over insurance-plan cancellations, I have cosponsored a bill recently to allow consumers to keep their current plans under ObamaCare.

The “Keep Your Health Plan Act” addresses what I believe was a false promise by President Obama – “If you like your plan, you can keep it” under the health-care law.

Even former President Bill Clinton said recently that President Obama should honor his oft-repeated pledge and allow people to maintain health care plans that are being cancelled as a result of the Affordable Care Act.

The Keep Your Health Plan Act is legislation that will keep the president’s promise and let those who like their current health care plans to keep them under ObamaCare.
