Labor-HHS Veto is Misguided Attempt to Appear Fiscally Responsible (Rep. Betty McCollum)

President Bush’s veto ignores the priorities of the American people. Cutting funding for cancer research, college aid, and his own No Child Left Behind program is a desperate attempt to look fiscally responsible after recklessly spending half a trillion dollars in Iraq.

For one tenth of what the President has requested for another year of war in Iraq, we can begin to restore America’s security and prosperity by investing in essential priorities at home.
