Bush Cracks Jokes at Correspondents’ Dinner

While senior aide Karl Rove may have upstaged him later in the night (see video here), President Bush cracked a few jokes of his own at the radio-tv correspondents’ dinner last Wednesday night.

The president wasted little time before taking a swipe at Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.).

“I’d like to thank the radio and tv correspondents organization for providing dinner tonight,” Bush said, “And I’d like to thank Sen. Webb for providing security.”

“Well, where should I start. A year ago my approval rating was in the thirties, my nominee for the Supreme Court had just withdrawn and my vice president had shot someone, ” Bush added, “Ah, those were the good ole days.”
