Budget Resolution Invests in Infrastructure (Rep. Jim Oberstar)
Rep. Oberstar is chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
Over the past seven years, the Bush administration has proposed cuts to virtually every infrastructure investment program, including highways, public transit, airports, Amtrak, wastewater treatment, and water resources development. Infrastructure investment is fundamental to jumpstarting short-term economic stimulus and sustaining long-term economic growth — something our nation desperately needs right now.
This Budget Resolution takes a responsible, long-term view of our nation’s critical infrastructure needs, while still achieving a balanced budget by 2012.
