Club for Growth Goes After Huckabee in Michigan

The Club for Growth will begin running this ad in Michigan today, comparing former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) to former President Bill Clinton as a “tax and spend liberal Arkansas governor.”

The Club for Growth has attacked Huckabee’s economic record throughout the presidential campaign; the dispute escalated in November when Huckabee referred to the group as “the Club for Greed” on Fox News.

Michigan is next in the 2008 primary schedule (falling on Jan. 15) after Tuesday’s New Hampshire contest, where Huckabee placed third among Republicans behind Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. Polls currently show Huckabee down one percentage point to Romney in Michigan, the state Romney’s father governed for three terms.
