Why Do Bush a Favor on Peru Trade Deal?
Rep. Phil Hare (D-Ill.) says House Democrats shouldn’t do President Bush any favors on the Peru free trade agreement, which is slated for floor debate in the House Wednesday.
Hare says Congress cannot trust Bush to enforce the deal’s labor and environmental standards, and that Democrats should wait for a new administration before passing trade agreements.
