GOP Senators Call for AMT Action

GOP Sens. Gordon Smith (Ore.), Mike Crapo (Idaho), and Chuck Grassley (Iowa) joined Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell Wednesday to call for action on the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT).

The senators claim the AMT is now harming the middle class, whereas it originally targeted wealthy people who claimed large amounts of certain kinds of deductions or exemptions on their tax forms.
