Energy Bill Is Implausible, Unsalvageable (Sen. James Inhofe)
Right now, it totally ignores anything on the supply side, which would have to be looked at to correct the problem. Secondly, from the information that’s leaked out — the Heritage Foundation did a piece on it, and of course the Finance Committee is leaky right now—from the stuff that has leaked out so far, it would have the effect of doubling the price of fuel at the pump by 2016.
It has so many things in it that are just bad, and so I can’t think of anything really that’s good. So I think it just will be too late to try to save it. The renewable standard of 15% is something excessive, it’s not going to work, so I can’t see that the bill is salvageable at this point.
