Democrats’ “Earmark Reform” Just a Campaign Promise (Rep. Tom Price)
Last year our majority heard the American people and we fought hard for real reform to the earmark process. We created more transparency and more accountability so that members requesting earmarks would have to defend those earmarks to their colleagues, to their constituents, and to the press.
This new Democrat majority has gutted those reforms. Their process results in less transparency and less accountability, putting one person in charge to be judge and jury. It is clear that their version of earmark reform was simply a campaign promise, and something they never intended to put into action.
