Nicholson Must Go (Rep. Phil Hare)

Veterans’ Affairs Secretary Jim Nicholson has presided over a litany of failures and should step down in the interest of our veterans.

Months after faulty accounting resulted in a $1 billion shortfall at the VA, Secretary Nicholson approved hefty bonuses for senior officials ranging up to $33,000. This is at a time when we have a backlog of 600,000 disability claims (delays averaging 177 days) and vet centers across the nation are short on staff. Not to mention the fact that the VA lost 2 computers (May ’06, Feb. ’07) containing the sensitive personal information of our veterans on Secretary Nicholson’s watch. It is time to say enough is enough.
