FY08 Budget Gives Good Starting Point
The President’s 2008 budget proposal provides the Budget Committee with a good starting point. Balancing the budget is a must, and it is best accomplished by continuing policies that promote economic growth and job creation, and most importantly restraining federal spending, but not by raising taxes. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Budget Committee to achieve all of these goals. In fact, in the coming weeks I will be putting forth my own plan to reduce the federal deficit and more narrowly defining what constitutes ’emergency spending.’
