Class Warfare Was Dems’ M.O.

House Democrats attempted to use an Education and Labor Committee hearing yesterday to engage in bitter class warfare over the state of the U.S. economy.

They failed.

Democrats and their witnesses tried to paint a bleak picture of an America facing economic insecurity, shrinking job opportunities, declining upward mobility, and a growing inability to save and accumulate wealth. At the same time, they ignored these facts:

The nation’s unemployment rate is holding steady at 4.5 percent – lower than the average over the past three decades;

Combined pay and benefits earned by U.S. workers is at a record high; and

Policies enacted by Congress after the economic downturn at the start of this decade have proven successful in growing the economy, spurring investment, and creating jobs.

All of this progress has been made without adding new layers of government and recentralizing power in Washington – which were at the heart of the “solutions
