Putting a Stop to Feel-Good FEMA
It’s pretty simple: disaster assistance should be used for disasters.
Tomorrow, I will introduce legislation to ensure that no disaster relief funds are used for any type of crisis counseling, recreation, or self-esteem building classes or instruction, including, but not limited to, dance and exercise classes, bingo, gardening workshops, puppet shows, or theater productions.
American taxpayers should be outraged that their hard-earned dollars are spent on puppet shows, dance classes, and theater productions, just to name a few.
When a disaster occurs, funds need to be readily available for emergencies to provide adequate care and help people get back on their feet. Wasting precious funds on Bingo is offensive to those truly in need.
I encourage my colleagues to co-sponsor this legislation and help eliminate frivolous, feel-good spending.
