Empowering a Disillusioned Electorate

My name is Robert Belin and I am running for United States Congress in the second congressional district. One of government’s functions is to empower people to be the best they can to themselves, their families and society. Back in 1995, Representative Jackson said during his campaign, “I am seeking to serve office, to serve the people, meet their needs and better the lives of the people of the second districtThe 2nd congressional district is in need of change and better leadership. We have more foreclosures in the 2nd congressional district than any other district in the state. You have to ask yourself who benefits from foreclosures. Businesses are moving across the border into Indiana for better tax incentives. Who can blame them? The schools are governed by an Act that will fail most schools across this nation by 2010. Dr. Gerald Bracey, Stanford University said the following about this legislation:

The No Child Left Behind Act is a weapon of mass destruction. Its target is America’s public school system. The National Conference of State Legislatures estimates that 90% of all schools will fail to meet NCLB’s provisions. The Council of Chief State School Officers puts the figure at only 88%. What is the purpose of a law where 9 out of 10 schools fail? Where is the political outcry for change in this legislation?

Our constituents of the congressional district are being fooled that an airport and/or casino will answer all our economic problems. We are in need of strong leadership that will involve the constituents of our congressional district to solve the problems at hand. I am an educator by trade. I have captured various teaching awards by empowering people to be the best they can. Give me an opportunity to connect people to make the 2nd congressional district one of the best places to live. My web page is robertbelin.com. Thank you for your time and God bless.
