Boehner swears in Markey’s replacement

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Thursday swore in the newest member of the House, Rep. Katherine Clark (D-Mass.), who won former Rep. Ed Markey’s seat this week.

Clark was joined by her Democratic Massachusetts colleagues on the House floor, and said after her quick swearing-in that she hopes both sides can work together on the difficult issues ahead.

{mosads}Clark also acknowledged Sen. Markey, who joined members of the House for her swearing in.

“Senator Markey, you set a standard of excellence during your time in the House,” she said. “I look forward to carrying on your work for the people of our district, and partnering with you and the entire Massachusetts delegation to move Massachusetts and our delegation forward.” [WATCH VIDEO]

Clark’s swearing in puts the House at 433 members, with two vacancies.
