Janet Yellen, meet the House of Representatives
Federal Reserve Board Chair Janet Yellen will testify in the House next week on the Fed’s monetary policy course and the state of the economy, less than two weeks after she took over her post from Ben Bernanke.
Yellen will meet with the House Financial Services Committee on Tuesday, giving members of the committee their first chance to ask about her views on the Fed’s bond-buying program that most agree helped lift stocks last year, and the slow winding down of this program.
{mosads}Yellen was confirmed by the Senate in a 56-26 vote on January 6 — several senators were missing as ice and snow delayed flights and prevented many from returning to Washington in time.
Also next week, the House Homeland Security will meet Wednesday to hear from newly installed Secretary Jeh Johnson.
