A closer look at next week …

Tuesday, March 1

The House convenes at 10 a.m., and at noon it will begin consideration of the short-term spending measure. A vote is expected on that measure, but Republicans have not said what time it might occur.

Wednesday, March 2

The House meets at 10 a.m., and at noon begins consideration of H.R. 662, which would extend federal surface transportation spending for the rest of FY 2011 at FY 2010 levels. Members will also begin consideration of H.R. 4, which would eliminate an IRS reporting requirement in last year’s healthcare law.

Thursday & Friday, March 3-4

The House will meet at 10 a.m. to finish consideration of H.R. 4, and votes are expected by 3 p.m.

Republicans are warning that while all business is scheduled to be completed by 3 p.m., this can not be guaranteed, as the Senate also has to act on the spending bill. The House is tentatively scheduled to meet Friday at 2 p.m. in a pro-forma session, although more work on the budget is conceivable on Thursday and Friday.
