Next week in the House: rescinding housing programs
Cantor implied that both bills might be considered under a modified open rule that allows amendments to be considered as long as they are printed in the Congressional Record first. This is the way Republicans permitted amendments to H.R. 1, the FY 2011 spending bill.
Cantor also said Republicans are likely to pursue a handful of bills under a suspension of House rules, which will require the support of two-thirds of voting members. He said bills up for suspension votes would be revealed by Friday.
The House plans to meet in a pro-forma session at 2 p.m. Friday, but no legislative work is scheduled for that day. The House then plans to convene next at 2 p.m. Tuesday, and will take up legislative business at 4 p.m.
