House approves rule for three-week spending resolution

The House on Tuesday approved a rule allowing it to take up a three-week spending resolution and immediately began one hour of debate on the resolution.

The rule was approved in a 241-181 vote, and five Democrats voted with Republicans in that vote: Reps. Dennis Cardoza (Calif.), Jim Costa (Calif.), Larry Kissell (N.C.), Gary Peters (Mich.), and Heath Shuler (N.C.).

While every Republican voted in favor of the rule, not all will vote for the resolution. Reps. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) and Steve King (R-Iowa) said earlier in the day they would oppose it, and Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) said on Monday he would vote against it.
