The House also approved several other non-controversial bills by recorded vote. By a 418-1 vote, members approved H.R. 1484, which is aimed at improving the appeals process of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
By a 387-33 vote, members approved S. 1082, which extends programs under the Small Business Act to July 31, 2011.
Members did not hold two votes that were expected on Tuesday. They briefly debated H.R. 802, which would create a program to recognize business contributions to veterans’ employment, but a vote is not expected on Wednesday.
After the above votes, the House began debate on H.R. 1194, but a vote on that bill will also be pushed off, likely until Wednesday. This bill would renew the authority of the secretary of Health and Human Services to approve demonstration projects that test strategies for delivering welfare benefits to children.
