House easily approves federal land-use bills
H.R. 441, the Kantishna Hills Renewable Energy Act. This bill would authorize the secretary of the Interior to issue permits for a microhydro project in non-wilderness areas in the Denali National Park and Preserve.
H.R. 295, which amends the Hydrographic Services Improvement Act of 1998 to authorize funds to acquire hydrographic data and provide hydrographic services specific to the Arctic for safe navigation, delineating the United States extended continental shelf, and the monitoring and description of coastal changes.
H.R. 461, the South Utah Valley Electric Conveyance Act. This bill would direct the secretary of the Interior to convey federal features of the electric distribution system to the South Utah Valley Electric Service District.
H.R. 818, which directs the secretary of the Interior to allow for prepayment of repayment contracts between the United States and the Uintah Water Conservancy District.
Recorded votes were requested on two other bills, which are also expected to pass by a two-thirds majority vote later tonight:
H.R. 1160, the McKinney Lake National Fish Hatchery Conveyance Act. This will would require the secretary of the Interior to convey the McKinney lake National Fish Hatchery to the state of North Carolina.
H.R. 320, the Distinguished Flying Cross National Memorial Act, which would designate a Distinguished Flying Cross National Memorial at the March Field Air Museum in Riverside, Calif.
