House kills all but one Dem amendment to small-business regulation bill

By voice vote, members accepted one amendment from Rep. Mark Critz (D-Pa.), to require agencies to consider the estimated cumulative impact on small companies of any rule stemming from the implementation of free trade agreements. But members rejected five others, from:

{mosads}Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas), to exempt rules issued by the Department of Homeland Security. Rejected 173-244.

Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.), to exempt from the bill’s requirements any rule relating to food safety, workplace safety, consumer products safety or air or water quality. Rejected 171-248.

Gary Peters (D-Mich.), to exempt all rules that the Office of Management and Budget says would result in job creation. Rejected 179-243.

Jackson Lee, to require a study on the cost effectiveness of the act. Rejected 172-250.

Hank Johnson (D-Ga.), to create an exception for any rule carrying out the FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act. Rejected 170-250.
