House GOP lauds Benghazi committee proposal
House Republicans on Tuesday praised the GOP leadership’s decision to establish a select committee to investigate the 2012 Benghazi attack as the chamber gaveled into session for the week.
{mosads}”The Buddha once said there are three things that cannot be hidden long: the sun, the moon and the truth,” said Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.). “Cover-ups, like clouds, are temporary. They can’t hold back the light forever.”
Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) said the select committee was necessary to obtain more facts about the Obama administration’s handling of the 2012 attack on the U.S. diplomatic facility.
“Because the administration continues to provide a misleading and duplicitous cover-up, we owe it to those who have died for America to develop a select committee to continue the investigation of the Benghazi murders,” Wilson said.
In another floor speech within minutes of Foxx and Wilson, Rep. Ted Poe (R-Texas) said the select committee would help Congress conduct oversight of the executive branch.
“People in government that botched this Benghazi matter and the terrorists who killed the Americans should be held accountable,” Poe said. “I applaud the Speaker for establishing a select committee on Benghazi for finding out the truth.”
