GOP Rep.: ‘Zero’ chance of ObamaCare repeal
Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.) said this week that there is “zero” chance of repealing the 2010 healthcare law.
“The chance of repealing Obamacare is zero,” Rogers told members of the Pell City Rotary Club in his district, according to a local report.
{mosads}The Alabama Republican, who has served since 2002, said that repealing the healthcare overhaul wouldn’t be possible, even if the GOP wins the Senate. Rogers acknowledged that more votes to repeal or modify the law were likely but ultimately fruitless since President Obama would veto such legislation.
Rogers’s comments stand in contrast to long-standing pledges from Republicans to repeal the 2010 healthcare overhaul.
The GOP has gone quiet on the healthcare law in recent weeks. Such a shift is due, in part, to high enrollment in the exchanges and a reduced number of Americans without health insurance.
