House Dem: No more US troops to Iraq
Rep. Janice Hahn (D-Calif.) on Wednesday said that the U.S. should not send any more troops to Iraq amid the crisis.
Hahn urged President Obama to decide against sending reinforcements to Iraq or use airstrikes against Sunni militant group ISIS.
{mosads}”I don’t think we should be sending our men and women back to Iraq or to engage in airstrikes,” Hahn said on the House floor. “I don’t believe that this is the time to go back and fight a war that we don’t believe is ours.”
Hahn said the eight-year Iraq war that spanned the George W. Bush and Obama administrations was more than enough U.S. engagement in the country.
“Let’s not do this again,” Hahn said. “I think enough is enough.”
Earlier this week, President Obama ordered the deployment of up to 275 military personnel into Iraq to protect the U.S. embassy in Baghdad.
