The House also meets at 10 a.m. for speeches, and at noon takes up two bills. One is H.R. 4105, which would allow the Department of Commerce to continue applying anti-subsidy duties to non-market economies like China.
A federal appeals court in December decided Commerce does not have the authority to impose these duties; the bill would reverse that decision. The Senate on Monday quickly approved the bill in anticipation of the House approving it Tuesday.
{mosads}The second bill is H.R. 2842, the Bureau of Reclamation Small Conduit Hydropower Development and Rural Jobs Act. This bill is aimed at making it easier for Western states to develop hydropower in waterways controlled by the Bureau.
The House will have to start by approving a rule for the bill, and the rule up for debate allows any pre-printed amendment to be considered on the floor.
