House clears adjournment resolution
The House cleared an adjournment resolution during a brief pro forma session on Friday.
{mosads}The Senate passed its own resolution without objection late Thursday night, so neither chamber will have to convene for pro forma sessions during the seven weeks until they return after the midterm elections. Under the Constitution, neither chamber can recess for more than three days without the consent of the other.
The Senate will still convene for a pro forma session with no legislative business conducted on Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. All pending nominations are sent back to the White House if the Senate is not in session for more than 30 days.
Rep. Frank Wolf (R-Va.) presided over the House pro forma session. No other members were seen in the chamber Friday afternoon.
