Ohio lawmakers ask CDC for Ebola support
The Ohio House delegation requested the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to provide their state with “any and all necessary support” to respond to the Ebola outbreak.
In a letter to CDC Director Thomas Frieden made public Monday, all 16 members of the Ohio House delegation, including Speaker John Boehner (R), requested support from the agency to handle potential exposure and any confirmed cases of Ebola.
{mosads}”We write today to ask that the CDC provide any and all necessary support to the state of Ohio in determining any potential exposure, identifying those most at risk, and if necessary, containing and treating anyone that may have come in contact with the Ebola virus,” they wrote in the letter.
The lawmakers additionally demanded an explanation on how a nurse named Amber Vinson who treated the Dallas Ebola patient traveled on a plane to Cleveland.
“We further ask for an explanation of the policies which allowed a direct caregiver to an infected person to travel to Ohio and what changes have been made to ensure the same does not happen in the future,” they wrote.
