House passes bills honoring Wallenberg, Nicklaus

The House also approved H.R. 4040, awarding a congressional gold medal to golfer Jack Nicklaus. Members approved that bill 373-4; all “no” votes came from Republicans.

“No” votes came from Reps. Justin Amash (R-Mich.), Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), Reid Ribble (R-Wis.), and Scott Rigell (R-Va.). Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) voted “present.”

{mosads}Two other non-controversial bills were debated Monday but will be voted on later in the week. These are H.R. 1815, offering a gold medal posthumously to singer and actress Lena Horne, and H.R. 2452, to require the minting of coins honoring Mark Twain.

Those were the last votes of the day, after which the House moved immediately to special order speeches for the rest of the evening.
