Rep. Black: ‘American voters aren’t stupid’
Rep. Diane Black (R-Tenn.) took to the House floor on Thursday to blast comments about voter “stupidity” from an Obama administration consultant on the healthcare law.
Unearthed videos showed consultant Jonathan Gruber saying that the healthcare law passed because of “the stupidity of the American voter” and a “lack of transparency.”
{mosads}Black argued the controversial nature of ObamaCare and polling showing that Americans are frustrated with the law indicated that voters weren’t “stupid.”
“American voters aren’t stupid, as ObamaCare’s designer says — to the contrary, they have repeatedly raised their objections to this government takeover of our healthcare system,” Black said.
The Tennessee Republican further argued that the healthcare law was so poorly designed it wouldn’t stand in court.
“ObamaCare is arguably the worst piece of legislation to be passed in a generation. The law is such a mess that it may collapse under a review by the Supreme Court next year,” Black said.
“The American people get this, even if the law’s designers do not,” Black added.
