Wednesday: Same as Tuesday: Late-night approps in the House, student loans in the Senate

New amendments are still expected to come up Wednesday. The House is expected to finish the bill Wednesday or early Thursday morning — Republicans are expecting the last votes could take place as late as midnight.

{mosads}The House will not start with the appropriations bill, but rather two suspension bills. One of these is H.R. 4122, the United States-Israel Enhanced Security Cooperation Act. The bill reaffirms the U.S. commitment to Israel and re-ups a loan guarantee program for Israel.

The other is H.R. 2072, the Securing American Jobs Through Exports Act. This bill reauthorizes the Export-Import Bank.

The Senate returns at 9:30 a.m., and will try to find a way forward for S. 2343, the Stop Student Loan Interest Rate Hike Act on Tuesday. Senate Republicans were able to block a motion to proceed to this bill on Tuesday. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) voted against the motion at the last minute, which will let him call it up again.

Democrats indicated several times Tuesday that they may have to allow Republicans to vote on their alternative bill to keep interest rates low on Stafford loans for another year. No procedural deal was announced Tuesday night, but one could be announced Wednesday morning.
