Rohrabacher says U.S. aid programs to China ‘insane’
“They are happy to loan us the money, and they are happy that we are stupid enough to give it back to them in terms of aid and the types of programs,” he said. “We are strengthening a government that considers us an enemy.”
{mosads}In terms of economic policy, Rohrabacher said offering these grants makes little sense because the aid money used would help China develop technology that the U.S. will eventually have to purchase. He said the U.S. should be using this money domestically instead.
“We’re borrowing money from China to give it to China, rather than having that money spent in the United States,” he said.
“What we are doing is insane,” he continued. “America will never survive with such a mindset of these mind-boggling giveaway programs. We’re giving this type of support to a country and a government that’s totalitarian, that kills Christians and other religious people, who hates the United States. That is not the Chinese people, that’s the Chinese government.”
Rohrabacher spent 20 minutes listing scores of grants that the Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Agency for International Development, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the National Science Foundation have given to China over the last few years.
