A closer look at next week…

Spending in the DHS bill would fall in 2013 compared to 2012, down $400 million to $39.1 billion. But spending would increase under the military construction would rise $10.8 billion, to $146.4 billion. And spending in the water/energy bill would also increase by $87.5 million, to $32.1 billion.

{mosads}The House will also take up a dozen bills under a suspension of House rules, including the Senate-passed bill to extend the National Flood Insurance Program for 60 days. The Senate approved that language this week, as part of a deal in which Senate Democrats agreed to take up a longer-term form bill in June.

The House starts its work Wednesday afternoon and finishes Friday, and the Senate is out for the week.

Monday

The House is out. The Senate is out for the week but holds pro forma sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tuesday

The House meets for a 2 p.m. pro forma session.

Wednesday

The House meets at 2 p.m. for legislative work on 12 suspension bills, with any necessary votes at 6:30 p.m. The bills are:

H.R. 5651, the Food and Drug Administration Reform Act of 2012,

H.R. 3310, the Federal Communications Commission Consolidated Reporting Act of 2012,

H.R. 3541, the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act (PRENDA) of 2012,

H.R. 5512, the Divisional Realignment Act of 2012,

H.R. 4201, the Servicemember Family Protection Act,

H.R. 1299, the Secure Border Act of 2011,

H.R. 3670, to require the Transportation Security Administration to comply with the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act,

H.R. 2764, the WMD Intelligence and Information Sharing Act of 2011,

H.R. 915, the Jaime Zapata Border Security Task Force Act

H.R. 3140, the Mass Transit Intelligence Prioritization Act,

H.R. 5740, the National Flood Insurance Program Extension Act, and,

H.R. 4041, the Export Promotion Reform Act.

Thursday

The House meets at 10 a.m. for speeches and noon to take up H.R. 5743, the Intelligence Authorization Act for 2013. Members are expected to pass that bill Thursday.

The House will also start work on H.R. 5854, the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for 2013.

Friday

The House meets at 9 a.m. and is expected to finish the military spending bill. Members could also start work on H.R. 5325, the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act.

Votes may also occur on motions to instruct conferees on H.R. 4348, the Surface Transportation Extension Act.
