Rep. Glenn Thompson (R-Pa.) on Tuesday praised German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s visit to Washington this week.
Merkel met with President Obama at the White House on Monday, as well as in a joint press conference.
{mosads}Thompson, a co-chairman of the German-American Caucus, took to the House floor to laud the U.S.-Germany alliance.
“While the primary topic was mutual security, the visit also afforded an opportunity to display the strong ties between our two great countries. This relationship is immediately visible through the thousands of businesses on both sides of the Atlantic which provide employment and help support local economics,” Thompson said.
“I know that I speak for many of my colleagues when I say that Chancellor Merkel’s visit was certainly welcomed and we look forward to building upon our relationship,” Thompson added.
