The House passed legislation on Thursday to provide funding for committees during the 114th Congress.
Passage came easily on a voice vote after only about ten minutes of floor debate.
{mosads}Most committees will receive an allocation of around $10 million, though some committees receive more or less than that amount.
Larger committees like Energy and Commerce, Oversight and Ways and Means are getting the most: $19.5 million, $18 million and $17 million, respectively.
Meanwhile, the House Rules Committee will only receive $5.8 million and the Ethics Committee just $6.2 million.
In addition, the bill establishes a $500,000 reserve fund for each of the two sessions of the 114th Congress for unexpected committee expenses.
House Administration Committee Chairwoman Candice Miller (R-Mich.) gave an example of the House Judiciary Committee needing extra funds to conduct judicial impeachment proceedings.
“For instance, in the case of the Judiciary Committee, it was testified there by the chair and the ranking member that there’s a possibility of judicial impeachment proceedings. They may have to conduct that. They may not,” Miller said.
