Iowa lawmaker preparing anti-ID theft bill

{mosads}Latham said state laws are often not enough to prevent ID theft, and said federal laws are “outdated and have not kept up with evolving technology that has allowed these scams to grow.”

Among the scams Latham cited are those involving the theft of Social Security, veterans and healthcare benefits under ObamaCare.

Latham is seeking input from people about the contents of his bill, but said it would “comprehensively reform” federal laws and “more strongly deter and punish anyone who commits the crime.”

The Appropriations Committee member provided a form people can fill out that asks what they want to see in the bill, and details about whether they have ever been a victim of identity theft.
