House Dem to Boehner: Cancel August recess

Cicilline said the House needed to appoint budget conferees to work out the major differences between the House and Senate budget resolutions in order to replace sequestration with job creating investments. Cicilline also called on the House to reauthorize a food and nutrition bill after the House passed a farm bill that stripped out food assistance programs.

{mosads}He criticized Republicans for instead scheduling “political” votes that don’t help middle-class Americans.

“It is so frustrating that instead of addressing any of these critical issues, the House has begun a scheduled 38-day recess that started only after we voted for a 40th time to undermine the Affordable Care Act — a blatant political ploy that does nothing for the constituents who are waiting for answers to the critical concerns facing our nation,” Cicilline wrote.

The House and Senate are scheduled to return to Washington on Sept. 9.
