House Democrats will hear speakers ranging from singer John Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, to Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell at their annual retreat next week as they discuss their legislative agenda.
House Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.) announced in a closed-door caucus meeting Tuesday morning that Legend, Teigen and Powell will be attending the retreat.
{mosads}Legend and Teigen, a model and author, have both been outspoken critics of President Trump. Legend has also been involved with a campaign called #FREEAMERICA to advocate for criminal justice reform.
Powell will offer a picture of the national economic situation, according to an aide familiar with the planning. He has been a frequent target of Trump over the central bank’s interest rate policy.
Democrats will hold their retreat at the Lansdowne Resort and Spa in Leesburg, Va., from April 10 to 12.
They initially planned to hold their retreat in February, but rescheduled it due to the government shutdown.
