GOP convention’s goal Thursday is to tell Romney’s personal story

“By the end of the evening viewers will know why Mitt Romney is uniquely qualified to be the next president,” Schriefer said.

{mosads}To speak about Romney’s church service in the Church of Latter Day Saints, or the Mormon Church, Grant Bennett and two families — Ted and Pat Oparowsky and the Finlayson family — will describe how Romney has personally helped them and others through his religion.

Chairman of the Romney-Ryan campaign Bob White, and Tom Stemberg, the founder of the office supply company Staples, will talk about Romney’s business experience. A video will also show one of the investments Romney made while working at Bain Capital.

Two members of Romney’s cabinet as governor of Massachusetts will talk about his political record. Kerry Healey was Romney’s lieutenant governor and Jane Edmonds, a Democrat, served as Romney’s secretary of workforce development.

A group of Olympians will take the stage to explain how Romney successfully ran the 2000 Salt Lake City Olympics and then a mystery guest is expected to endorse Romney at 10 p.m. Many news outlets have reported that it’s actor, director and former mayor of Carmel, Calif., Clint Eastwood.

Finally, Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.), who was seen as a potential running for Romney, will introduce Romney, who will accept the nomination and close out the convention.
