Thursday: Pipelines in the House, amendment fight in the Senate

The House begins at 9 a.m., and will consider the last of three energy bills before leaving for the week.

Members will debate H.R. 1900, the Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act, which sets a 12-month deadline for approving natural gas pipelines. They will debate the bill, consider five amendments, and pass it sometime around noon.

{mosads}On Wednesday, the House passed two energy bills — one speeding up the drilling permit application process, and the other blocking federal regulations on fracking.

The Senate will start at 10:30 a.m., and will continue work on S. 1197, the National Defense Authorization Act.

Senate Republicans have been pressing to hold votes on several amendments, but Senate Democrats have sought to limit amendments in order to pass the bill before the Thanksgiving break. On Wednesday, the Senate debated two amendments dealing with sexual assault in the military, but failed to hold a vote on these proposals.
