Thursday: Finishing flood insurance and prepping the farm bill

The Senate starts at 10 a.m., and it will resume voting once again on amendments to a bill delaying core provisions of the 2012 flood insurance reform law.

On Wednesday, senators voted down a Republican budget point of order against the bill and approved three amendments to the legislation.

{mosads}Today, the Senate will vote on four amendments, including one from Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) that would adjust the phase-in of higher flood insurance rates, instead of delaying them altogether. Those votes will start at 11:15 a.m., and a vote on final passage of the bill is expected in the early afternoon.

Democratic leaders might also file a motion to end debate on the $956 billion farm bill that the House approved Wednesday. That could set up votes next week on that legislation.

The House is out, as Republicans are at their Maryland policy retreat.
