Friday: Unfunded mandates in the House

The House meets at 9 a.m. and will pass a bill aimed at limiting unfunded federal mandates — passage will complete a week of work on legislation to moderate federal regulations, provide more transparency into federal rulemaking and limit the powers of the IRS.

{mosads}The bill up today is H.R. 899, the Unfunded Mandates Information and Transparency Act. The House approved a rule for this bill Thursday.

Members will debate the bill, consider three Democratic amendments, and pass it before noon.

The Senate is out, after failing to advance a veterans benefits bill. Senators will return next week to work on a bill increase block grants to states to help provide childcare services
