Monday: Snow day

The House and Senate each had a little work scheduled today, but those plans were obliterated by another snowstorm.

As a result, the House won’t be in at all, and work in both chambers that was originally scheduled for today will now take place later in the week.

{mosads}In the House, that means four votes on suspension bills will have to happen Tuesday or later. Three of today’s planned bills dealt with the use of federal land, and the fourth was a resolution supporting pro-democracy demonstrators in Venezuela.

The snow has also canceled a Monday meeting of the House Rules Committee, which planned on writing a rule for two energy bills. They are the Responsibly And Professionally Invigorating Development (RAPID) Act, H.R. 2641, and the Preventing Government Waste and Protecting Coal Mining Jobs in American, H.R. 2824.

The House had planned on working on the latter bill on Tuesday, so the snow may push back that plan as well.

The Senate had plans to hold a vote to end debate on a judicial nominee, which will also have to be pushed off.

The Office of Personnel Management announced on Sunday that the federal government is also closed Monday due to the anticipated storm.
