Rep. King: Dems tried to scare GOP with government shutdown
Following that deal, King reportedly told the media that the Republican Party had “tossed its knife into the weeds” before a knife fight, and that the GOP should have used a possible shutdown to extract further cuts from the budget.
In the interview on Monday with the Globe Gazette editorial board in Mason City, Iowa, King said that despite his stalwart opposition to Obama, he still respects the office.
When a member of the board asked King for one example of something Obama had done correctly, King only mentioned that the president had handled himself well at the White House Medal of Honor presentation for Sgt. Sal Giunta of Iowa.
“Sometimes it’s just oil and water,” said King regarding the difference in his views with those of the president.
