Sen. Sessions says Democratic Senate avoiding budget responsibilities

Sessions said he thinks the budget proposed by the Obama administration does not get close to solving the fiscal crisis, but said the Senate nonetheless should pass some plan that could then be reconciled with the House bill. He said this return to “regular order” would allow differences to be worked out and compromises to be made when necessary.

“The American public deserves to know where our elected leaders stand,” he said. “We’ve gone 700-plus days, maybe 740 now, without a budget for the United States of America, during a time of the greatest systemic debt situation we’ve ever faced.”

Sessions also repeated his statements from Monday, when he said new White House meetings on the budget schedule for Wednesday and Thursday are a sign that Democrats do not plan to mark up a Democratic budget resolution this week.
