McConnell: Dem bill on oil companies would raise gas prices
“By taxing American energy production, they’re also outsourcing American jobs.
“So let me get this straight: Higher gas prices, fewer American jobs and more dependence on our foreign competitors at the expense of American energy?” asked McConnell. “That’s their plan?”
“No, thank you,” he concluded.
McConnell then moved on to another subject.
Democrats said Tuesday they plan to introduce a bill, authored by Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), later this week that would raise about $20 billion in revenue by cutting tax breaks for big oil companies. Democrats said they would use the funds to pay down the nation’s deficit.
