Dem senator: It’s time for entitlement reform
Bennet, along with the entire Senate Democratic Caucus, voted against House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan’s (R-Wis.) fiscal 2012 budget blueprint that calls for major Medicare reforms.
Bennet told the Herald he believes the popular entitlement program must not be privatized while delivering “higher quality at a lower cost.”
Democrats have not yet offered legislation that would rein in Medicare costs, instead focusing their attention on lambasting the Ryan plan.
Bennet, who survived both a contested primary and general-election challenge last year, was commemorating Memorial Day in Durango while touring Western Colorado.
